Sweden Talent Visa Program

Overview

The Swedish government has recently launched a talent visa initiative to attract skilled professionals looking to work in Sweden.

Types of Visas:

1) Jobseeker Visa

This visa allows individuals to reside in Sweden for up to nine months without a prior job offer. It provides an opportunity to search for employment and meet potential employers.

2) Work Visa

A Work Visa is available for individuals who have secured a job offer and permits residency for over a year.

Processing Time

Applicants can expect a standard processing time of around 10 days if their applications are filed by a company recognized by the Migration Agency.

EU Blue Card

Definition

The EU Blue Card serves as a residency and work permit for non-EU/EEA citizens, similar to the US Green Card. It facilitates the entry of highly skilled workers into the EU, encompassing significant socio-economic rights and a potential pathway to permanent residency and EU citizenship.

Eligibility

This card is ideal for professionals planning to work in multiple EU countries within four years, as it can simplify transitions and may have benefits regarding permanent residence applications based on prior Blue Card holding in Sweden.

Processing Time

Typically, the EU Blue Card application is processed in 2-3 weeks, although the Migration Agency has up to 90 days for completion, especially during busy periods.
