Sweden Talent Visa Program

Overview

The Swedish government has introduced a new talent visa initiative designed for professionals aiming to work in Sweden.

Types of Visas:

1) Jobseeker Visa

This visa is valid for 9 months and permits individuals to relocate to Sweden without securing a job offer. It allows candidates to search for employment and meet potential employers directly.

2) Work Visa

This visa allows successful applicants to live and work in Sweden for an extended period. It can be applied for once an employment offer is obtained.

Application Processing Time

Typically, a work permit can be processed within 10 days, provided that the application comes from an employer certified by the Migration Agency.

EU Blue Card

Definition

The EU Blue Card serves as a work and residential permit for non-EU/EEA nationals, similar to the US Green Card. This program aims to simplify the process for highly skilled professionals to work in the EU and offers extensive socio-economic rights along with a route to permanent residency and EU citizenship.

Eligibility

This card is ideal for those intending to work in different EU nations within the next four years. Numerous EU countries issue Blue Cards, which can facilitate mobility across the region and may also count towards permanent residency applications in the future.

Processing Time for Applications

Generally, an EU Blue Card application is completed within 2-3 weeks, though it may take up to 90 days if the case officer is managing a high volume of applications.
