Participants will delve into the essential principles of cryptography through a mix of theoretical insights and practical activities. They will investigate historical ciphers, decipher messages, and use digital tools to develop encrypted communications. This workshop aims to enhance critical thinking and technical abilities, offering an approachable yet thorough introduction to encryption—the technique of writing and interpreting codes.
All attendees must bring laptops that have Touchdesigner installed. Touchdesigner is a freely available software for non-commercial download, compatible with both Mac and Windows operating systems.
The workshop complements Portals, a cutting-edge visual arts exhibition that connects Singapore's wartime past with innovative technology at the Battlebox. This workshop and Portals are initiatives of cmd.exe ("command prompt"), a new platform focusing on the intersection of heritage and creative technology.
The exhibition will be open from 28 March to 29 June 2025. Further information about the exhibition and its associated public programs can be found at cmdexe.art.
