Welcome to the Maki Handmade Goldsmith Workshop in Stuttgart West! On Mother's Day, participants will gather for a delightful breakfast and then unleash their creativity: under the guidance of experienced goldsmith Camilo, they will create a pendant or bracelet with a unique texture and engraving. Attendees can choose to work with sterling silver or golden brass.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE CREATIVE BRUNCH & WORKSHOP:
The Mother's Day workshop will commence at 10:00 AM with a cozy breakfast in the jewelry workshop. Participants will start the day with their mothers in a relaxing atmosphere. The delicious homemade breakfast includes:
As a welcome gesture, a glass of sparkling wine will be provided, and attendees can enjoy unlimited tea, water, sparkling water, and orange juice during the breakfast & workshop.
After breakfast, the jewelry workshop will begin.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE JEWELRY WORKSHOP:
1) Introduction and Initial Exercises
The workshop kicks off with a brief welcome and introduction, detailing the various design options and materials. A demonstration of engraving techniques will follow, allowing participants to make initial attempts on a test plaque while receiving guidance on the engraving process.
2) Planning the Jewelry Piece and Engraving
If participants are unsure of what they want to create, they can draw inspiration from model examples. Together, they will plan which pieces to make and decide on the dimensions and design based on their desired engravings.
3) Cutting the Pendant and Shaping the Bracelet
Using pre-prepared wire and metal sheets, participants will either cut their bracelet blank or stamp out their pendant. The pendants will be briefly heated, and participants will have the opportunity to work with the burner. Following this, they will refine their blanks using sandpaper.
4) Hammering / Texturizing
Participants can choose to polish their jewelry piece or apply an exciting texture, such as a rustic hammering effect or a matte finish.
5) Engraving with Stamps
Using stamps, participants will imprint their desired engraving onto their jewelry. There are letters and numbers in various sizes and fonts, as well as numerous symbols and motifs available for personalizing their pieces. Additionally, the engraving can be darkened for a typewriter effect.
6) Finishing Edges and Final Touches
After engraving, participants will smooth the edges of their pieces and give them the finishing touches. Camilo will drill any necessary holes, providing a glimpse into the workshop.
7) Shaping the Bracelet, Adding Loops, and Cutting Chains
In the final step, participants will shape their bracelet or, if needed, cut the chain for their necklace or bracelet. They will learn to properly attach a loop and will have the chance to cut and assemble their chain.
