The French Institute of Latvia is delighted to host translator Nicolas Auzanneau as part of its "Soirée en français" series. Auzanneau has recently received the prestigious LALIGABA special prize for 2025, honoring his significant contributions to the translation and promotion of Latvian literature within the Francophone community.
This gathering is scheduled for April 28, 2025, at 18:00, taking place at the French Institute, located at 9 Rainis Boulevard in Riga.
Nicolas Auzanneau (1972) holds degrees in history and literature. As a certified teacher of modern literature, he has engaged in various roles within education, cultural action, and translation. He graduated from the Literary Translation School (CNL/Asfored) in Paris and has lived in various locations including Persac, Poitiers, Gliwice, Bordeaux, Riga, Périgueux, Reims, and Luxembourg. Since 1996, he has been connected to Latvia, currently residing in Schaerbeek, Brussels, where he works as a translator for European institutions while frequently visiting Riga.
His translations focus on Latvian literature—including prose, poetry, theater, history, and cinema—sometimes translating from English, but exclusively in connection with Latvia.
