On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 7:00 PM, attendees are invited to the next edition of Design Drinks & Talks, taking place at ABBY, the brand-new museum for visual arts in Kortrijk.
Museum director Sarah Keymeulen will discuss the interplay of form and content in ABBY; the design collective Giel Dedeurwaerder & Brent Neve will introduce their nature furniture brand 'NOEST'; and Jasper Feyaerts & Vital De Wachter will showcase their studio Hyper Vyper, known for creating 'quality kick-ass games'.
ABBY is an innovative, accessible, and multi-voiced museum for visual arts located in Kortrijk. During Design Drinks & Talks, museum director Sarah Keymeulen will elaborate on the dynamic relationship between form and content, encompassing architecture, design, interior, museum functioning, vision, and concept.
The urban collection engages in dialogue with contemporary art, dynamic heritage practices, and the theme of ‘identity’ in all its complexity. Together with a broad network of organizations, creators, and communities, and through art as a universal language, they explore what defines and connects us as human beings across borders, generations, and cultures.
Kortrijk-based designers Giel Dedeurwaerder & Brent Neve have a strong collaborative history. As a design collective, they express their admiration for wood through their unique perspectives. With ‘Noest’, they launched a nature furniture brand that creates thoughtful solid wood objects tailored for environments, paying attention to craftsmanship and human well-being.
Their aim is to design furniture for public green spaces that encourage people to stop, look around, and enjoy their surroundings. They are developing a permanent collection of seating, lounging, and leaning furniture while also designing installations that reflect the identity of specific natural spaces.
In October 2024, they received the BKRK-award from Vakmanschap Bokrijk for Noest.
Hyper Vyper is an innovative game and software studio based in Hangar K. The founders, Jasper Feyaerts & Vital De Wachter, are alumni of the Digital Arts and Entertainment program at Howest. Through Hyper Vyper, they develop fast-paced multiplayer games and groundbreaking applications, where creativity, technical precision, and immersive interactions converge.
On Thursday, April 24, reception starts at 7:00 PM.
The first talk begins at 7:20 PM.
Each speaker will present for about 15 minutes.
