Spring is here, and the Brunch Book Club is ready to engage in stimulating literary discussions! This May, the group will delve into the thought-provoking novel Fundamentally by Nussaibah Younis, recently recognized on the longlist for the 2025 Women’s Prize for Fiction. This compelling and darkly humorous tale tackles important themes of love, faith, and belonging, centered around an unlikely friendship between a teenager from East London who joined ISIS and the academic assigned to help her reintegrate.
The gathering will start with an Online Discussion from 10:30am to 12:30pm, where participants will explore the book's intricate themes and characters. Following this, they will gather at Paradise Green in Bishopsgate (3:00 - 4:30pm) for an exquisite Aussie-inspired brunch in a lively and artistic setting. Attendees can expect exceptional coffee, a fusion of Mediterranean and Asian cuisines, and a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the spirit of Australia's Gold Coast.
This is an opportunity to engage with a challenging narrative and savor a delightful brunch experience.

‘By normal, you mean like you? A slag with a saviour complex?’
Nadia, an academic estranged from her strict mother and recently heartbroken, decides to take a UN job in Iraq, focusing on rehabilitating women associated with ISIS. There, she finds herself enveloped in the complexities of international aid and its challenges.
Sara, a fiery young woman from East London who joined ISIS at the age of fifteen, crosses paths with Nadia. Their bond, founded on shared backgrounds and common interests, evolves into a powerful friendship, but a secret from Sara could jeopardize everything Nadia holds dear.
This novel is a biting and humorous examination of love, family, faith, and the quest for belonging, bravely confronting contemporary controversies with depth and wit.
Paradise Green represents the Daisy Green Collective’s most ambitious restaurant project to date. Built over three years, this spacious venue in the heart of the City is designed to combine art, design, and culinary delights in an impressively stylish atmosphere.
Inspired by Surfers Paradise on Australia’s Gold Coast, it boasts a 'sunrise' room ideal for fresh mornings filled with juices and exquisite coffee, as well as a 'sunset' light bar and restaurant perfect for convivial dinners.
