My Telok Blangah Heritage Tour [English] (19 Apr 2025)

Info

The name Telok Blangah, meaning "cooking pot bay" in Malay, refers to the distinctive shape of the bay by Keppel Harbour. Historical accounts mention the story of Palembang prince Sang Nila Utama, who tossed his crown into the sea to calm a storm while journeying to Singapore. In another interesting anecdote, the Chinese trader Wang Dayuan documented that the chief of Longyamen owned a crown, linking both tales to the area's rich history.

My Telok Blangah Heritage Tour showcases Singapore's extensive history, spanning back 700 years from the Kingdom of Singapore formed by Sang Nila Utama in 1299 to the British trading post established in the 20th century. Participants will visit significant sites such as Marang Graves, Keramat Bukit Kasita, the Royal Johor Masoleum, and Radin Mas Shrine, gaining insights into the nation’s past.

This tour also features a special visit to Masjid Temenggong Daeng Ibrahim, an important mosque with a royal burial ground for the Johor royalty.
