Broekies leest 'Sunrise of the Reaping' (of ‘Dageraad voor de boete)

On Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19, Broekhuis' YA book club 'Broekies' will hold its fifth meeting at Broekhuis Deventer and Enschede. Attendees can choose to participate in Deventer or in Enschede.

For these evenings, the focus will be on 'Sunrise of the Reaping' by Suzanne Collins. It serves as a prequel, so even those unfamiliar with the rest of the series are welcome! The story revolves around the day of reckoning for the fiftieth Hunger Games, where panic grips the districts of Panem. In District 12, Haymitch Abernathy tries not to think about the possibility of being chosen as a tribute while longing to be with the one he loves. However, when his name is drawn during the ceremony, his dreams turn into nightmares. He is whisked away to the Capitol with three other tributes, including a childhood friend, an obsessed bookmaker, and the most vain girl in town. As the Games commence, Haymitch realizes he's destined to lose, but something inside him stirs a desire to fight and ensure his struggle resonates beyond the deadly arena.

The gatherings at Broekhuis Deventer (April 18) and Broekhuis Enschede (April 19) will begin at 19:30.
