After two years since the Gommapiuma tour, GIORGIO POI, one of Italy's most internationally recognized singer-songwriters, announces his return to the stage.
This much-anticipated comeback follows the successes and international accolades he has garnered over the years. He has opened concerts for the band Phoenix in Milan, Paris, and the United States, and completed a mini Asian tour performing in Beijing, Tianjin, and Hong Kong. Additionally, he had the opportunity to perform in Mexico City, opening for León Larregui, the iconic frontman of Zoé, with whom he collaborated on the track “Chromosomic Avenue.”
Joining Giorgio Poi on stage will be his longtime collaborators: Matteo Domenichelli on bass, Francesco Aprili on drums, and Benjamin Ventura on keyboards.
BIO
Giorgio Poi is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and composer, with an extensive history of live performances and fruitful collaborations with various artists both in Italy and abroad. His debut album “Fa Niente” was released in 2017 (Bomba Dischi/Universal) after spending several years living between London and Berlin. The album received critical acclaim, and in 2018, he participated in the Eurosonic festival in Groningen, followed by a mini European tour.
His music caught the attention of Phoenix, leading to invitations to open their concerts in Milan, Paris, and the USA. In early 2018, he also took on an artistic production role for Francesco De Leo's debut album (Bomba Dischi). He collaborated with artists like Frah Quintale on the song “Missili,” produced by Takagi and Ketra, and Carl Brave on the track “Camel Blu” for the album “Notti Brave.” Furthermore, he contributed to Calcutta’s new album “Evergreen.” In 2019, he released his second album “Smog” and embarked on a successful tour across Italy, achieving numerous sold-out shows.
That same year, he wrote the song “Prima di partire” for Luca Carboni’s album “Sputnik” and worked with Franco126 on their albums “Stanza Singola” (2019) and “Multisala” (2021). After creating the original soundtrack for Summertime (Netflix), he made his comeback in the autumn of 2021 with “I Pomeriggi” and “Giorni Felici,” inspired by the graphic novel by Zuzu, who also designed the official cover of the single. His latest album, “Gommapiuma,” was released in December 2021 through Bomba Dischi, licensed by Island Records/Universal Music Italia. In 2022, he collaborated with French duo Rob & Jack Lahana on the single “Haute saison,” featuring Gordon Tracks (a.k.a. Thomas Mars, frontman of Phoenix), with the music video marking Natalie Portman’s directorial debut.
In 2023, he released the song “Chromosomic Avenue” in collaboration with León Larregui and opened his concert in Mexico City. He also performed twice in Paris in 2023: at Le Trabendo for the Fiore Verde Festival and at the Louvre for the Cinéma Paradiso Louvre Festival. In 2024, he is set to release “Tic Tac” in collaboration with Swiss singer Muddy Monk and will embark on another Asian tour, performing at the Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing, Nankai University in Tianjin, and the Y Theatre in Hong Kong.
