ANNUAL MUSICAL TRADITION IN THE HAGUE

This one-day workshop is ideal for those who love singing and moving to Latin American songs and rhythms!

Scratchday Latino 2025 | “The Voice of Latin America”

Participants will experience the vibrant melodies of beautiful Argentine folk songs by Mercedes Sosa, led by Argentine conductor Marcela Obermeister Shasha, accompanied by the South American ensemble "Grupo Los Criollos."

In just one rehearsal day, pieces of South American choral music will be practiced and performed for an audience at the end of the day. Additionally, there will be dancing to uplifting South American rhythms and an introduction to original musical instruments.

Featured songs include: gracias a la vida; rumi cani; viva Jujuy; el Humahuaqueño; canción con todos; todo cambia; hombre en el tiempo; Alfonsina y el mar.

No prior Spanish knowledge is required to participate; participants will receive mp3s with pronunciation guides for the lyrics. The participation fee is kept low to accommodate as many people as possible, and discounts are not available. Everyone is welcome, including those with limited mobility who can still sing. It's recommended to contact the organizers for any special accommodations.

Participants are required to bring their own lunch, but drinks will be provided during rehearsals. Early registration is encouraged to allow adequate preparation time for the songs, especially for those who are not experienced singers. Registration should ideally be completed at least two weeks in advance.

The Ichthus Church is easily accessible by public transport (line 23, stop Duinkerksestraat is just a minute away) and by bike or car, although parking is expensive and limited. The church is also wheelchair accessible, with lift access between different levels. A few designated parking spots are available for individuals with disabilities; prior contact is necessary for these arrangements.
