Hüsnü Şenlendirici, one of the leading clarinet masters of Turkey and Europe, will be performing in Genk. Coming from a Mediterranean family and raised with the rich traditions of gypsy-traditional music, Şenlendirici blends his classical musical education with an academic background to create a unique and eclectic sound.
He began his musical journey at the age of five in his grandfather's legendary band, Lacho, which played gypsy-traditional music in Turkey and Europe. His distinctive sound and improvisational style have made him a key figure in the Turkish music scene. Şenlendirici has collaborated with iconic artists such as Sezen Aksu, Kibariye, İlhan Erşahin, BaBa ZuLa, and Mercan Dede. He also formed his own band, Lacho Tayfa, which produced the groundbreaking album In the Buzz-Bag in collaboration with the Grammy-winning New York funk group Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
Through his project, Taksim Trio, he gathered three virtuosos to develop a unique musical language that has garnered admiration worldwide. Additionally, he collaborates with Tunisian master Dhafer Youssef in the project The Dance of the Invisible Dervishes. Hüsnü’s performance, which resembles the sound of a human voice, conveys a wide range of emotions, bringing the clarinet to life in a way that few can match.
Audiences are invited to immerse themselves in his improvisations and masterful interpretations of traditional melodies. This concert offers a rare opportunity to experience a true master of Anatolian music and a pioneer in the international music scene live.
