Featured screenings include:
Life Before Land: Bangladesh’s Disappearing Shorelines, Dying Earth (25 minutes)
A film by Fátima Lianes.
Bangladesh faces severe repercussions due to human-induced climate change. Situated near the Himalayas within an open delta, it experiences intense typhoons and extreme flooding.
'Life Before Land' spotlights how Bangladesh has developed advanced storm prediction systems and a shelter network that saves lives from frequent typhoons; however, rising sea levels threaten to engulf the land, causing entire communities to vanish and creating a growing number of climate migrants.
Fátima Lianes is a highly regarded Spanish director and producer, celebrated for her award-winning documentary and fiction work, including the acclaimed series **Dying Earth** and **The Young Pope**.
Dystopia of Seoul: What happens when AI-generated music meets climate change? (25 minutes)
A film by Sung Joo, Kang Mina, and Ann Seo Hee.
Originally inspired by Antonio Vivaldi's **The Four Seasons**, this project reimagines the music for 2050, incorporating climate data into its composition. The film reflects on climate predictions in Seoul, a city that faced catastrophic flooding in 2022.
'Dystopia of Seoul' illustrates a composition generated through an algorithm that adjusts melodies and tempo in response to Seoul's climate forecasts, resulting in a haunting yet compelling experience that serves as a warning regarding the climate emergency.
Mina Kang has been recognized for her documentary work and has gained accolades for her contributions to addressing the climate crisis in South Korea.
Following the screenings, attendees will participate in a meaningful panel discussion led by international multimedia journalist, Ruby Zaman, featuring noted experts in the field.
