Literary criticism and psychoanalysis can’t ignore the question what is reading?, as it lies at the core of their practices. This intersection highlights the complexity of reading, which can be applied to everything from a city to a symptom, dreams, mass cultural consumption, or a text. There is no single technique for reading, just as there is no way to learn analysis. To reduce reading to mere theory or science would strip it of desire and spontaneity, resulting in a sterile reproduction that leads to boredom. The question of reading remains vital. The workshop aims to explore this question and engage with authors who have grappled with it, treating it as a problem and a form of resistance against predictability.
Target audience: This workshop is open to anyone willing to engage with the question. No prior specific knowledge is required, and it is not aimed at a particular audience.
