Many young women in Austria encounter difficulties in securing apprenticeships due to their headscarves. Despite having good grades and strong motivation, they often receive multiple rejections. In interviews, they face questions about whether they would remove their headscarves or encounter derogatory remarks.
This experience inspired a talented young individual to share her story through film, supported by a local counseling center. The project is a semi-documentary film featuring young women who discuss the various stereotypes associated with their headscarves. They share their perspectives with the audience and express their hopes for a fairer society.
After the screening of "My Head – My Scarf – My Decision", there will be a panel discussion with experts addressing the challenges young women face in the job market, exploring strategies and potential solutions. Attendance is worthwhile!
