About the artist:
Modern Biology democratizes the concept of 'plant music.' With a background in biology and an extensive music career, Tarun Nayar merges his love for nature and sound into an ambient project characterized by an immediate and uplifting essence. He employs modular synthesis and custom-built synthesizers, blending the natural vibrations found in particular locations with the rhythms of plant bioelectricity and the earth’s resonant hum. Drawing from his training in Indian classical music, he crafts his musical selections around the time of day and season, aiming to ground listeners in the present through the synergy of sound and space.
His creative endeavors have reached over 100 million views and garnered him a following of more than 1 million on social media, with features in notable publications such as The Guardian, BBC, and Vice, among others. His music can be found on Spotify’s playlists, and his recent performances have taken place at esteemed venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (LA) and The Nobel Prize Museum (Stockholm).
Tarun is dedicated to the conservation of nature and has pledged a significant portion of the proceeds from this initiative to environmental causes.
