SALON DES HEROS

ASBL-ONGD LES HÉROS is organizing the third edition of the Salon des Héros, which will take place from June 5 to 7, 2025, in Kolwezi.

The previous two editions of the Salon des Héros were remarkable successes. The first was held at the Memling Hotel in Kinshasa, while the second took place at the National Museum of Kinshasa over a span of two days.

The theme for the 3rd edition, “Youth and Heritage: Involvement of Youth in Preserving the History and Cultural Values of the DRC for a Prosperous Future”, aligns with the goal of encouraging youth engagement in society.

Activities include:

- Five special stands in memory of celebrated figures: Patrice Emery LUMUMBA, Joseph KASAVUBU, Joseph Désiré MOBUTU, Mzee Laurent Désiré KABILA, and Étienne TSHISEKEDI WA MULUMBA, featuring exhibitions that showcase their journeys with historians providing lively explanations at each stand.

- THE LEGENDS RUMBA EVENING: An unforgettable night celebrating the musical heritage of Congolese rumba, highlighting the legendary artists who shaped this iconic genre and continue to inspire generations. Grand KALLE, Franco LUAMBO MAKIADI, TABU LEY Rochereau, LUTUMBA Simaro, MWENDA wa BAYEKE, and Papa WEMBA.

- KIKUKU YA MBOKA: A stand representing the CULINARY CULTURE of each province of the DRC in its full diversity; featuring masterclasses and sharing experiences under the theme: “Exploration of the Rich Culinary Heritage of the DRC: From Ancestral Traditions to Contemporary Innovations.”

- MOLATO YA MBOKA: A special space showcasing the FASHION CULTURE of the DRC, which reflects its identity, including a grand fashion show highlighting traditional hairstyles from different provinces, portraying the history of Congolese culture through hair since independence with the theme: FASHION CULTURE OF THE DRC AS A SYMBOL OF RESPECT;
