The centenary celebrations of Methodist College Uzuakoli, the oldest secondary school in the South East of Nigeria, promise to be a landmark occasion. Festivities will include the lighting of the centenary torch, speeches from prominent individuals, live music, cultural displays, theatrical performances, match pasts, student exhibitions, sports activities, a gala evening, and much more.
A Thanksgiving Church Service is scheduled to take place on December 15, 2024, led by the Prelate of the Methodist Church with assistance from the Archbishop of Umuahia, Dr. Opoko. The gala night will require a separate ticketing arrangement for entry.
There will be specific dress codes for each day of the celebrations: On December 11, participants are free to wear what they wish; on December 12, centenary T-shirts are preferred; December 13 encourages traditional attire; and December 14's dress code is yet to be determined. On December 15, attendees are expected to wear a green blazer.
For those with mobility challenges, transportation will be provided within the campus for short distances during the festivities.
