Gripin, one of Turkey's prominent alternative rock bands, originated as a cover band in Istanbul during the mid-90s, covering tracks from renowned British, American, and Turkish rock musicians.
The group, featuring Birol Namoğlu (vocals), Murat Başdoğan (guitar), Arda İnceoğlu (bass guitar & keyboard), and İlker Baliç (drums), transitioned to creating original music after gaining a dedicated fanbase.
Their debut studio album, Hikayeler Anlatıldı [Stories Were Told], released in 2004, elevated their presence within the music scene.
In 2007, they unveiled their critically acclaimed second album, including collaborations with popular Turkish indie artists like Ferman Akgül from maNga, Pamela Spence, and Emre Aydın.
Two singles from this album resonated with Turkish audiences: Böyle Kahpedir Dünya [This World is a Harlot] and Sensiz Istanbul’a Düşmanım [I Hate Istanbul Without You], featuring guest vocals from Emre Aydın.
Produced by Haluk Kurosman, known for his work with various Turkish pop-rock stars, the album earned Gripin numerous accolades and expanded their reach beyond Turkey.
Since then, the band has toured extensively in the USA, Australia, and Europe, solidifying their reputation internationally.
Their discography includes additional albums like MS. 05.03.2010 (2010), Yalnızlığın Çaresini Bulmuşlar (2012), and Nasılım Biliyor musun? (2017), alongside various reworkings. Currently, they are engaged in special projects to celebrate their 20 years in the industry.
Fans can look forward to an exhilarating concert at The Button Factory, showcasing their greatest hits from the past two decades.
