Amalio A. Rey presents his new book 'How to Boost Collective Intelligence' at La Nave Nodriza
Currently, the concept of participation is facing challenges. Amalio emphasizes that when people work in large groups, their intelligence can diminish compared to working individually. The central argument of his book is that effective "Participation Design" can prevent collective stupidity. The author starts by identifying nine "participatory pathologies" and suggests practical design and management strategies to address them.
While his earlier essay, 'The Book of Collective Intelligence' explains how to activate collective intelligence, 'How to Boost Collective Intelligence' focuses on how to implement it.
The book introduces 101 "design principles," presented in bite-sized formats that resemble a dictionary. In a discussion featuring Mariana Salgado, director of the podcast Design and Diaspora and Bea García, Director of Learning Experiences at La Nave Nodriza, they delve into the lessons behind these design principles with practical examples spanning from social collectives to the corporate world.
This gathering caters not only to those already familiar with Amalio A. Rey's work but also to anyone interested in learning, discussing, and exchanging ideas in a safe and welcoming environment centered on collective intelligence. For those who have not yet read the book, the index and the introduction are available for review.
The topics discussed will be relevant to various on-site courses and remote training offered at La Nave Nodriza starting in 2025: Exploratory Research Course; DesignOps Workshop, Facilitating Design Processes Workshop, and Strategic Foresight.
