Hayao Miyazaki's Dreams by Mystery Ensemble

Info

✨ A unique concert is set to take place on December 27th at 8:00 PM in the atmospheric Canisius Church in Vienna. The audience will be treated to enchanting soundtracks from renowned animated films such as “Howl’s Moving Castle,” “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” “Spirited Away,” and “My Neighbor Totoro,” composed by the legendary Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi. This captivating musical experience will be brought to life by the colorful performance of the contemporary orchestra Mystery Ensemble, promising joy for the entire family.

With a remarkable career encompassing film, anime, video games, and television scoring, Hisaishi is celebrated for his contributions to the cinematic world, including his work for the 1998 Paralympic Games in Nagano. His most notable compositions are found in esteemed films by Takeshi Kitano and the beloved works of Hayao Miyazaki.

The collaboration between Hisaishi and Miyazaki is legendary; it's often debated whether Hisaishi’s music amplified the brilliance of Miyazaki’s films or vice versa.

This concert offers an extraordinary experience within the beautiful interiors of Canisius Church on a cozy winter evening!

Joe Hisaishi's journey began with the release of his debut album, “Information,” in 1982. Shortly after, he was invited by Isao Takahata to compose the music for the manga adaptation of “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” leading to his rise in fame and collaborations on all of Miyazaki’s subsequent films.

Hisaishi has earned multiple accolades, including four Japanese Film Academy Awards for “Best Film Music,” with three of these recognizing his work in films by Takeshi Kitano, including “Sonatine,” “The Boys Are Back,” and “Fireworks.” He is also known for composing scores for various Kitano films such as “Scenes by the Sea” and “Kikujiro.”

The concert will commence at 8:00 PM.

Location: Canisius Church, Lustkandlgasse 36, 1090 Vienna.
