There is the grand history found in textbooks, and there is the smaller history of families and emotions, as well as the songwriting that powerfully chronicles it all in the late twentieth century. Inspired by these themes, Ivana Ferri has created a theatrical narrative spanning a century, following the journey of Susanna, a girl from 1914, who witnesses a transforming world. A century ago, the “great war.” Seventy years ago, the post-war period. Forty years ago, the years of lead.
These are not just “numbers.” They represent periods that sustain a memory shaping the present and guiding an uncertain future.
