Llisa Demetrios, the youngest granddaughter of renowned designers Ray and Charles Eames, serves as the chief curator of the Eames Institute, where she perpetuates their legacy.
Ray and Charles Eames were pivotal in shaping American mid-century modern design for over four decades, operating a legendary design studio that created furniture, textiles, films, exhibitions, and collaborated with various prominent clients.
Starting their work in the post-World War II period, the Eameses emphasized the practicality and longevity of their designs. Charles famously stated, “The real questions are: Does it solve a problem? Is it serviceable? How is it going to look in ten years?”
While their furniture is now synonymous with prestigious spaces, their prime focus was on enhancing the quality of life for the greatest number of people, encapsulated in their motto: “the best for the most for the least.”
In this special talk in Barcelona, Llisa Demetrios will share insights on the wisdom her grandparents impart to contemporary designers and creatives. This session is aimed at enthusiasts of design, history, and innovation and promises to be an insightful experience.
