The “MELOS Philharmonic Orchestra” will present a selection of works from the renowned Venetian composer, known for his prolific output of around 600 compositions. His musical repertoire includes secular pieces such as sonatas and concertos for orchestra and solo instruments, as well as sacred, choral, and operatic works. His ability to communicate through music showcases innovative formal, compositional, and instrumental solutions. The creativity of this Italian composer influenced some of the greatest musicians of his time, including J. S. Bach.
The program will also feature pieces from Italian composers of the late 20th century, notable figures who merged music with storytelling and imagery in cinema. Through their soundtracks, arrangements, and works for the big screen, they helped propagate the Italian style globally. The concert will include waltzes by Nino Rota from “The Leopard," as well as timeless themes by Ennio Morricone from “The Caliph,” “The Pianist on the Ocean,” “Cinema Paradiso,” and “Once Upon a Time in America.”
The evening will conclude with renowned pieces from the grand Viennese tradition of Johann Strauss.
The concert will take place in the Gran Paradiso Hall, accessible from the Congress Center Billia.
