The rise in popularity of synthetic gemstones presents opportunities for jewelry designers, traders, and customers, while also raising questions. Gemologist An Jonckers serves as an independent expert and lecturer in Gemology at PXL-MAD and the Royal Academy in Antwerp. During this talk, An will explain the differences and similarities between natural and synthetic gemstones, focusing on production and material properties. Following this, she will engage in a dialogue with the audience and a panel regarding various perspectives and issues surrounding the trade of natural and synthetic materials.
