With a new government now in place amidst considerable changes in environmental legislation, there are ambitious goals for both the economy and climate. This seminar aims to assess recent advancements in UK environmental law while considering future opportunities.
The focus will be on the current application of the Environment Act 2021 and the various developments occurring across the UK. Additionally, the discussion will address the necessary reforms in regulatory frameworks, including planning law, in response to challenges related to the economy, infrastructure, climate, and biodiversity.
This session is part of an ongoing series dedicated to the significant transformations in UK environmental law following Brexit, uniting scholars, practitioners, governmental representatives, and members of civil society.

Its objectives include promoting research and education, while addressing the role of law in tackling current environmental and energy issues. The Centre adopts a holistic approach to domestic (UK), regional (EU), and international environmental law, as evidenced by its LLM course offerings and the diverse research undertaken by its members.
