The Songs Strings and Steps Christmas concert is scheduled for December 6th and 7th at Central Heights Church in Abbotsford, under the direction of violinist Calvin Dyck.
This well-loved performance will showcase Tenor Ken Lavigne, who will sing several carols from his album "Comfort and Joy," arranged by Roy Tan. The repertoire includes pieces such as In the Bleak Midwinter, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Upon a Midnight Clear, and Away in a Manger. The Victoria-based "Festive Brass Ensemble" will also perform stunning arrangements for Brass Quintet, featuring Lo, How a Rose and the Huron Carol.
The Abbotsford Youth Orchestra's Senior division strings will present the Barrage arrangement of Jingle Bells, complete with choreography by Sylvia Friesen, along with several surprises for attendees. Furthermore, the orchestra will perform "Winter" from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and the Corelli Christmas Concerto. As a long-standing tradition, the concert will conclude with Mel Bowker’s impressive arrangement of O Holy Night, with Calvin Dyck as the violin soloist.
This concert promises an enchanting experience filled with joyous orchestral music in celebration of Christmas.
