This colloquium will honor American Literature as part of the activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Regional Publishing House of Extremadura, which promotes and publishes literature from Extremadura and research on the region’s history and culture.
The American Letters series was established nearly twenty years ago and includes works from prestigious Hispanic American authors such as Mónica Lavín, Octavio Escobar, and others.
The commemorative event will feature writers Pablo Montoya, Daniela Tarazona, and Antonio María Flórez, alongside Victoria Bazaga Gazapo and Antonio Girol García.

[Biographies]
Pablo Montoya
A prominent writer and literature professor at the University of Antioquia, Montoya has received numerous accolades including the International Rómulo Gallegos Novel Prize in 2015 and the José María Arguedas Narrative Prize in 2017 for his novel "Tríptico de la infamia." He is a member of the Colombian Academy of Language and has published several notable works.
Daniela Tarazona
A talented author known for her novels, including "El animal sobre la piedra" and "Isla partida," which won the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Prize in 2022.
Antonio María Flórez
A physician with a focus on drugs and sports, Flórez is a recognized cultural manager and poet who has received several national poetry awards in Colombia.
Victoria Bazaga Gazapo
With over 30 years in the tourism sector, Bazaga Gazapo is a successful businesswoman who has led various tourism organizations in Extremadura.
Antonio Girol García
Lawyer and current director of the Regional Publishing House, García has worked in various capacities within the Junta de Andalucía.
