Sunum: Plastik atık – küresel çevre felaketi

Info

Plastic pollution has become a global crisis threatening not only oceans and land but exceeding the planet's capacity limits. Approximately 450 million tons of plastic are produced each year, and this amount is expected to triple by 2040. Alarmingly, nearly 50% of this plastic consists of single-use items containing harmful chemicals that are dangerous to both the environment and human health. Turkey receives 28% of Europe's plastic waste, with 90% of this waste ending up in landfills.

Prof. Dr. Sedat Gündoğdu, a leading expert on microplastics and a member of the UN Coalition of Scientists for a more effective Plastic Treaty, will address the ecological and social dimensions of this crisis in a lecture at the Austrian Cultural Forum. Gündoğdu has significantly shaped discussions in the field of microplastics and plastic waste with his influential research and publications, sharing his extensive knowledge with the attendees.

Participants will also have the opportunity to explore an exhibition titled Making Something out of Nothing, which approaches plastic pollution from an artistic perspective.

The presentation will be conducted in Turkish.
