An interview with Michel Poivert, an art and photography historian at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and president of the International College of Photography.
For the inaugural lecture of the 2024-25 academic year, the International College of Photography hosts photographer and researcher Jean de Pomereu at the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine. Jean de Pomereu, who holds a PhD in geography and is a researcher at the University of Cambridge, is also trained in art history and specializes in the cultural history of Antarctica.
In 2022, he authored the book Antarctica: A History in 100 Objects (ed. Conway) and is also an exhibiting photographer (Galerie Bigaignon). His work offers an ambitious artistic reflection on polar spaces, inviting attendees to engage deeply with threatened sites on the planet through a historical, cultural, and aesthetic lens.
