About CoderDojo
CoderDojo is dedicated to organizing free programming clubs, known as "Dojo's", where both girls and boys can learn to code, create websites, develop apps, and design games. Participants get to meet like-minded peers and share their projects with one another, turning the learning experience into an enjoyable and engaging one.
The Dojo's are established and run on a voluntary basis, led by coaches who possess sufficient ICT knowledge and a genuine desire to mentor young individuals. Additionally, volunteers also assist in the practical organization of the sessions. CoderDojo emphasizes the use of open source and free software, and has rapidly grown into a global network of members and volunteers. The organization aims to demonstrate that programming is not solely for tech enthusiasts. The young coders create exciting projects that exemplify how enjoyable technology can be, all adhering to the fundamental principle: "Above all: be cool!".
Practical Information
Participants must be aged between 7 and 18 years. For those under 12, it is recommended to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents do not need to stay continuously but should remain nearby to be contacted if necessary. Parents are also encouraged to return half an hour before the end of the session to witness the showcase and help volunteers with the cleanup afterwards.
Each participant is required to have a laptop. Coaches will ensure that all necessary software is installed, or they will inform in advance if any specific requirements are needed. If a participant does not have access to a laptop, CoderDojo will try to arrange a portable computer for use.
Registration & Cancellation
The registration form gathers personal information about the participant, and may also require additional details about the parent or guardian, which will be specified when applicable. Participants are asked to provide an email address and phone number for their parent or guardian at the time of registration. If necessary, CoderDojo will reach out directly to the parent or guardian.
Participants are encouraged to keep their information up to date and, in case they cannot attend, canceling their registration is straightforward. Simply log into their account, find the ticket page, and select the registration to view detailed information and proceed with the cancellation.
