Applicants Utilizing SkillsFuture Credit (SFC)

Participants should first verify their SkillsFuture Credit balance (Mid-Career $4K cannot be used).
Select only the $20 'Apply to use' Ticket, which is non-refundable and non-transferable, not covering the course fee.
Claims for SFC must be submitted within 60 days, up to 3 days before the start date of the course.

Confirmation of attendance follows the approval of the SFC claim.
Cancellation of the SkillsFuture claim before the start date may incur a penalty fee for course withdrawal.

Manlin will conduct the course in Chinese, with supplementary English support.

Li Shu (隶书), an ancient style of Chinese calligraphy, is considered fundamental in the study of calligraphy. This introductory course aims to teach participants the Li Shu style.

Course Outline:

Introduction to basic strokes, structure, and characters of Chinese calligraphy.
Detailed exploration of rules and the seven formulas of writing Li Shu, referencing the Cao Quan Monument (曹全碑).
Creation of art pieces consisting of 1 word, 4 words, and 5-word couplets.

Required Materials:

Plastic sheet for the desk.
Cloth/Newspaper for backing rice paper, water pot, and rag for brush cleaning.
Shawl/Sweater for warmth during the session.

Materials Provided: Brush, ink, paper, saucer.

Trainer Bio:

Zhou Manlin holds a degree in Architecture from Tsinghua University. She is affiliated with the Life Art Society, specializing in teaching Chinese Brush Painting and Chinese Calligraphy.
