On December 13, 2024, the Islamic Religious Community of Upper Austria will host a reading by Gernot Galib Stanfel from his new book "The Islamic Heritage of Austria: How Islam Shaped Austrian Culture and Society for Centuries."
The author, a lecturer at the Catholic University of Education in Vienna/Krems, highlights the often-overlooked influence of Islam on the cultural and social development of Austria. His research illustrates the deep interconnection between Islam and Austrian identity, showcasing its impact on the nation's art, science, and social life.
The reading will be accompanied by a photo exhibition depicting Islamic influences in the Austrian urban landscape, visually representing themes discussed in the book. Additionally, a short documentary will be screened, bringing to life the historical sites and legacies of Islam in Austria while entertainingly exploring the book's topics.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase the book and receive a personal signature from the author.
