Gagosian is hosting a remarkable live performance featuring Marco Blaauw, who will provide the musical backdrop to Gerhard Richter’s Moving Picture (946-3) Kyoto Version (2019–24). This presentation takes place within the immersive film and sound installation exhibited at their gallery in Rome. In this thirty-six-minute piece, Richter, in collaboration with Corinna Belz, delves into the intricate relationship between photography, randomness, and systematic methods, culminating in an analytical expression of his Strip project. The composition of Rebecca Saunders, intended for double bell trumpet solo and featuring acoustically altered sounds, was developed in partnership with Blaauw and sound designer Sebastian Schottke. Each performance will seamlessly supplant the recorded soundtrack of the film. Attendance is free, though advanced registration is recommended.
The performance space has limited capacity and primarily offers standing room, though a few seats are reserved for individuals with specific needs.
