In December, the month of renowned figures Osvaldo Pugliese, Carlos Gardel, and Julio De Caro, a unique walking tour is proposed to celebrate the National Day of Tango, observed on December 11th. The journey begins at the corner of Luna Park stadium, exploring the historical roots of the San Nicolás neighborhood and Avenida Corrientes, starting from the era of Juan de Garay to the golden age of tango, marked by its theaters, bars, and cabarets.
The tour proceeds along Avenida Corrientes, uncovering the history behind notable buildings such as the former Central Post Office, COMEGA, and Dreyfus, culminating at the legendary "Corrientes 348," immortalized by the tango "A media luz."
Next, the narrative revisits the heyday of Calle Florida, and upon turning onto Maipú, it highlights the famous cabaret Marabú, where Troilo’s orchestra made its debut.
At the intersection of Avenida Corrientes and Esmeralda, the rich legacy of tango artist Celedonio Flores will be remembered. The tour also encompasses some of the city's most iconic theaters that define the vibrant Buenos Aires nightlife: Ópera, Tabarís, Gran Rex, and Maipo.
