What? A discussion on Social Media, Health, and Democracy: Creating a Healthier Online Environment
Who? Vardon Hamdiu, the co-founder and head of Sparkable, a nonprofit focused on developing an innovative social media platform aimed at bridging gaps and fostering community.
The current social media landscape, driven by divisive and addictive algorithms, poses challenges to both individual and societal health. This workshop aims to explore how these platforms can be redesigned to promote empathy, connection, and social harmony.
Participants will engage in an interactive workshop that focuses on practical solutions to reimagine social media. Topics for exploration include:
- Alternative metrics beyond clicks, views, and likes.
- Creating engaging platforms that do not depend on addictive techniques.
- Strategies for establishing sustainable nonprofit social media.
