About CoderDojo
CoderDojo hosts free programming clubs known as "dojos". In these dojos, children learn programming, web development, app creation, and game development. They meet like-minded peers, referred to as "ninjas", and share their projects with one another. CoderDojo transforms coding and development into an incredibly fun and engaging experience.
The dojos are established and run by volunteers. This includes coaches with sufficient IT knowledge who are passionate about mentoring young individuals and cooks who handle the practical organization of the dojo. CoderDojo emphasizes open-source and free software, fostering a rapidly growing network of members and volunteers globally. The initiative aims to demonstrate that programming is not just for tech enthusiasts. Participants create exciting projects that serve as examples of how enjoyable technology can be. CoderDojo has a simple motto: "Above all: be cool!".
Practical Information
Participation is open to those aged between 7 and 18. While parents are not required to stay throughout the session, they should remain nearby for contact purposes. Parents are encouraged to return half an hour before the end to experience the presentation moment and assist volunteers with cleanup afterward.
Participants are expected to bring their own laptops. Coaches will ensure that all necessary software is installed or will inform participants in advance if specific items are needed. If a participant lacks a laptop, they can request assistance, and CoderDojo will attempt to provide one.
Everything is free, but a small donation to cover expenses is greatly appreciated.
Registration & Cancellation
The registration form primarily collects personal information about the participant. In rare cases, additional information about the parent or guardian may be requested. All participants must provide an email address and phone number for their parents or guardians. If necessary, CoderDojo will contact the parents or guardians directly.
Participants are encouraged to keep their registrations current, and if unable to attend, they can easily cancel their registration. They will receive an email to confirm their cancellation. If issues arise, they can reach out for assistance.
Development Paths
Multiple learning paths are available. Complete beginners should start with Scratch, while other options include micro:bit, mbot, Python, and more.
