"Disinformation: A Threat to Democracy?" - Conference

Info

The Department of Media, Connectivity, and Digital Policy of the Ministry of State, in partnership with the University of Luxembourg, is organizing the concluding conference of the "Mediareform" series, entitled:

"Disinformation: A Threat to Democracy?"

📅 December 4, 2024
🕔 6:15 PM
📍 Casino Luxembourg - Forum of Contemporary Art

Disinformation, including fake news and deepfakes, significantly endangers democratic systems, particularly with the rise of social media and artificial intelligence. A recent study indicates that a vast majority of Luxembourgers have witnessed false or misleading information.

This conference aims to address the ethical and societal dilemmas posed by disinformation and to discuss strategies for combating it while minimizing opinion polarization and distrust.

The conference will be concluded by Elisabeth Margue, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, who will deliver the closing remarks.
