An informative session on Coercive Control featuring Dr. Lisha van Reyk from Deserving Better WA is being organized. Dr. van Reyk will elaborate on identifying coercive control, its effects on victims and the wider community, and will provide practical tools for navigating these situations.
Participants will discover the existing support systems and those that are still needed to effectively assist anyone facing this form of abuse.
This session aligns with the 16 Days in WA campaign, which occurs annually from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day). The initiative draws inspiration from the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
Light refreshments will be available for attendees.
