Creative Health GM - A Place Partnership

NHS Greater Manchester, in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, is collaborating with various sectors, including public services, health providers, cultural organizations, universities, and local residents. The goal is to ensure that creativity and culture play a fundamental role in enhancing community health and wellbeing.

The Creative Health GM Place Partnership aims to integrate Creative Health throughout various community aspects over the next three years. This initiative is part of Greater Manchester's broader commitment to improve health outcomes and social opportunities for all residents.

With the support of an £800,000 grant from Arts Council England, this partnership reflects a transformative approach in public service interactions, emphasizing prevention, economic inclusion, and social connectivity.

Creative Health GM - A Place Partnership will focus on several key areas:

  • Dance and movement for enhancing gross motor skills in young children.
  • Storytelling initiatives to aid pre-school children's speech and language development in local libraries.
  • Co-designing creative support for mental health and wellbeing tailored for neurodivergent youth.
  • Expanding ENO’s Breathe program to assist those with respiratory issues.
  • Developing a culturally competent mental health support framework for diverse communities.
  • Enhancing brain health resources for unpaid caregivers in collaboration with the GM Ageing in Place Partnership.

In addition to these focuses, discussions will delve into:

  • The role of data and intelligence in measuring effectiveness.
  • The significance of partnerships in implementing innovative practices.
  • The best strategies to support health, care, and creative professionals.

This initiative is proudly hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University.

This partnership exists thanks to a significant grant from Arts Council England, with further support from Baring Foundation, alongside collaboration with various arts organizations in Greater Manchester renowned for their creative health initiatives.

All local higher education institutions are contributing through the Mayor’s Civic University Agreement, which promotes research and educational support.

The initiative seeks to transform how public services engage with communities, ensuring:

  • Access to a wide range of activities, support, and information.
  • Communities are empowered to contribute to their health and happiness.
  • Resources are provided to enable communities to drive change.

Will lunch be provided? Yes, attendees will receive a light lunch. Please indicate any dietary needs during registration.

Can attendance be in person or online? Participants may choose to attend in person or watch the live stream, with a link sent 24 hours in advance. The complete agenda will be available by the start of November, with additional speakers to be announced. The day will consist of a variety of speakers, panel discussions, creative opportunities, and collaborative spaces.
