This workshop targets owners of heritage properties seeking to enhance their understanding of the care and restoration of their buildings.
The day will consist of two parts:
Session 1 - Maintenance and Repair of Historic Buildings
For heritage buildings to achieve energy efficiency, they must be well-maintained. The initial segment of this course will help participants grasp the workings of older structures and identify common maintenance challenges. It will provide foundational knowledge on preserving these buildings, reducing future repair expenses, and when to seek specialized guidance.

Session 2 - Enhancing Energy Efficiency in Older Structures
This introductory training will provide participants with valuable strategies to reduce energy costs while preserving the historic allure of their properties.
The session will explore the thermal performance of traditional buildings and the various factors influencing it, such as the building's condition, moisture levels, ventilation, and choice of materials and methods.
Attendees will learn about simple and effective modifications, along with the relevant laws and regulations that may impact their decisions regarding building conservation and retrofitting.
This course aims to empower participants to make informed choices while maintaining the distinctive architectural features of their historic buildings.

Location: Haverhub, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. The facilities are accessible, and attendees are encouraged to communicate any additional needs to ensure a comfortable training experience.

Refreshments: Coffee and tea will be available, but participants should bring their own lunch.

The Tywi Centre has provided heritage construction training across Wales since 2009, gaining a reputation for high-quality, engaging courses delivered by knowledgeable experts.
The Heart of Pembrokeshire project is revitalizing Haverfordwest Castle into a vibrant heritage discovery center, expected to attract approximately 40,000 visitors annually. The team is collaborating with local residents and organizations to shape the vision and content of the center.
