About CoderDojo
CoderDojo hosts free programming clubs known as "Dojo's" where children between 7 and 18 years can learn to code, create websites, and develop apps and games. Participants connect with peers and share their projects, making coding a fun and engaging learning experience.
The Dojo's are initiated and managed by enthusiastic volunteers, including coaches with substantial ICT knowledge who mentor the youth. Additionally, there are cooks who handle the practical organization of each session. The focus of CoderDojo is on open-source and free software, fostering a rapidly growing network of members and volunteers worldwide. The organization aims to demonstrate that coding is for everyone, showcasing projects that prove technology can be exciting. CoderDojo adheres to one mantra: "Above all: be cool!".
Practical Information
Participants must be between 7 and 18 years old. Those younger than 12 years should be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who need not stay the entire time but should be available for contact. Parents are encouraged to return half an hour before the session ends to witness the presentation and assist volunteers in cleaning up afterwards.
Participants are required to bring a laptop. Coaches will ensure all necessary software is installed, or will communicate in advance if specific requirements are needed. If someone does not have a laptop, they should inform CoderDojo, which will attempt to provide a portable computer.
Registrations & Cancellations
The registration form primarily gathers personal information about participants. Occasionally, additional information regarding the parent or guardian is requested, which will be clearly indicated. During registration, participants must provide an email address and phone number of their parent or guardian. If necessary, direct contact will be made with them.
It is appreciated that participants keep their registration details updated, and should they be unable to attend, cancellation is straightforward. They will receive a confirmation email upon completion of the cancellation process. For further assistance, they can always reach out via sintpietersleeuw@coderdojobelgium.be.
