When classical music, pop, and electronic music converge, the result is often an explosive blend that captivates the audience. Transgender singer-songwriter and violinist Erma Pia Castriota, known artistically as H.E.R., is one of the most intriguing musicians in the contemporary scene. She holds a diploma in violin from the Conservatory of Benevento and a degree in set design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Foggia, which led her to join the musical group Nidi d’Arac. In 1999, she won the "Musica!" prize from Repubblica, and in 2001, she placed second in the "Premio Recanati." In 2004, she became the stable violinist for Teresa De Sio and released the EP "Se avessi te." From 2007, she has been a part of Dignità Autonome di Prostituzione, a performance by Luciano Melchionna, for which she writes the music and acts. In 2011, she collaborated on some songs from her album Magma (2008) for Franco Battiato's project, Diwan, l’essenza del reale. Her collaborations also include notable artists such as Dalla, Rettore, Fiordaliso, and Morrisey. Her track "Then" won the contest Fai volare la tua musica (Alitalia/Siae/Rockol).
