Book Club: Strategic Modelling and Business Dynamics

SCiO Finland's book club will gather on December 12, 2024, starting at 5 PM. Everyone is welcome to join!

Location: Aalto University campus, Maarintie 8, in Otaniemi, Espoo. Participants will meet in the main lobby and then move together to room 3160. Timeliness is appreciated!

The book for discussion will be: John Morecroft's "Strategic Modelling and Business Dynamics: A Feedback Systems Approach." Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd, 2007. ISBN 978-0-470-01286-4.

The session will be introduced and led by Timo Itälä.

Agenda:

Introductions and sharing updates
Discussion on the evening's book, including its concepts and practical applications. Participation from everyone in sharing their thoughts and learnings from the book is encouraged.
Coffee break
Open conversations about systems thinking
Deciding on the next book and speaker for the following meeting
Concluding with the scheduling of the next meeting's date and location.

What new concepts or ideas did you learn from the book? Was there anything particularly interesting or useful?
How well did you grasp the principles of system dynamics modeling presented in the book? Was there any part that was especially difficult or easy to understand?
How could you apply these principles in your own life or work?
Could you provide an example of how system dynamics modeling could be applied to a current problem or challenge?
