About CoderDojo
CoderDojo organizes free coding clubs known as "Dojos." In these Dojos, kids learn how to code, create websites, develop apps, and design games, among other things. They connect with like-minded peers and share their projects with each other. CoderDojo transforms coding and development into an enjoyable and engaging learning experience.
Dojos are set up and run on a volunteer basis. The team includes coaches with ample ICT knowledge and the enthusiasm to guide young people, as well as helpers who handle the practical organization of the Dojo. CoderDojo places a strong emphasis on open source and free software. The movement has a rapidly growing network of members and volunteers worldwide. CoderDojo aims to demonstrate that programming is not just for "nerds." The coders create exciting projects that exemplify how fun technology can be. CoderDojo operates under one rule: "Above all: be cool!"
Practical Information
Participants aged between 7 and 16 can join. Parents do not need to be present at all times, but they must remain nearby so they can be contacted if necessary. It is appreciated if parents can return half an hour before the end of the Dojo to observe the showcase moment and assist volunteers with cleanup afterward. Participants are required to have a laptop. Coaches will ensure that all necessary software is installed or will inform participants in advance if specific programs are needed. If a participant does not have a laptop, they should let CoderDojo know, and an attempt will be made to provide a portable computer.
Registration & Cancellation
The registration form primarily collects personal information about the participant. In some cases, additional information about the parent or guardian may be requested, which will be explicitly mentioned. During registration, all participants are asked to provide an email address and phone number for a parent or guardian. If necessary, CoderDojo will contact parents or guardians directly. Participants are encouraged to keep their registration details up to date, and in case of absence, cancellation can be easily managed through their account.
Tracks
There are various tracks available for participants. Those with no prior experience are encouraged to start with Scratch.
