The producer Stefano Bonagura meets the Italian-American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist for an interview focused on social sustainability. Beginning his career in 1961 at the age of 9 with a children’s music record, he played in various rock bands in Milan throughout the 1970s. In 1973, his first 45 RPM was released featuring two English tracks. Transitioning to Italian, he published his debut album in 1975, Non gettate alcun oggetto dai finestrini, under Cramps. His second album, Sugo, released in 1976, marked a significant success with hits like Musica ribelle and La radio. In subsequent albums, Diesel and Blitz, he incorporated various musical influences of the time, such as jazz rock and funk, reflecting on Italy's social landscape. He explored reggae and calypso in Roccando Rollando. Since the 1980s, he has solidified his reputation as a singer-songwriter with deep roots in blues and rock, paying tribute to beloved artists, dedicating an album to fado, venturing into theater, hosting radio shows, participating in the Sanremo Festival, and creating a musical based on his songs. In 2011, he co-authored his first book with Antonio G. D’Errico titled Spostare l’orizzonte, come sopravvivere a 40 anni di rock, where he shares his life philosophy. In 2022, following the lockdown, he released Euphonia Suite, a project developed and toured with Mirko Signorile and Raffaele Casarano, merging his historical repertoire into a continuous sound narrative.
