The Department of Law and the Luxembourg Arbitration Association, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Chapter CEIA, are hosting a conference supported by Bonn Steichen & Partners and ACQUIS Law.
This conference will address recent investment treaty claims related to sanctions and retaliatory actions involving the Russian government and "unfriendly jurisdictions." A notable case involves Fridman’s claim against Luxembourg under the BLUE-Russia BIT. As the landscape of sanctions evolves, experts will explore various legal challenges and defense mechanisms related to investment disputes, including denial of benefits clauses, police powers doctrine, and the arbitrability of sanctions-related claims.
