18-20 February 2025 | Stellenbosch, South Africa

DID:UNCONF AFRICA is a gathering that invites local and international pioneers, leaders, and advocates to collaborate on the evolution of digital identity in the SADC region. The gathering encourages creativity, teamwork, and functionality, aiming to significantly enhance the inclusive advancement of digital identity across Africa.

The program will commence with an African-Focused Digital Identity Program on the afternoon of 18 February, featuring a deep dive into the existing context of digital identity within South Africa and the wider SADC region through informative talks and interactive panel discussions addressing local challenges and innovative solutions.

Next, a 2-Day IIW Inspired™ Open Space UnConference will be held, creating an interactive space for participants to engage, co-develop, and envision the future of digital identity.

  • Networking Opportunities: Meet and connect with peers and experts during discussion sessions and shared meals, enhancing both formal and informal partnerships.

Open Space UnConference Format

This participatory format encourages professionals from diverse identity backgrounds to collaboratively explore key topics. Similar to established workshops, participants will collectively shape the agenda each morning. An organized facilitation process ensures that a full Agenda Wall is available to guide the schedule of sessions.

Numerous sessions, meal breaks, and a sponsored dinner provide ample opportunity to share ideas and forge new professional connections. This format suits the fast-evolving nature of the field, allowing for the spontaneous identification of pertinent discussion topics.

Participants can expect a dynamic environment to discuss and share knowledge related to digital identity in the region.

Stellenbosch, known for its vibrant atmosphere in February, will serve as an ideal backdrop for this significant gathering focused on digital identity technologies, tailored to unique regional challenges.
