About CoderDojo
CoderDojo offers free programming clubs known as "Dojo's". In these Dojo's, boys and girls learn to code, create websites, develop apps and games, and more. Participants meet others with similar interests and showcase their projects. CoderDojo makes learning to code an enjoyable and fantastic experience.
Dojo's are set up and run by volunteers. These include coaches with adequate ICT knowledge and passion for guiding youth. Additionally, there are volunteers who manage the practical organization of the Dojo. CoderDojo strongly emphasizes open source and free software. The movement has a rapidly growing network of members and volunteers globally. CoderDojo aims to show everyone that coding is not just for nerds. Our coders create exciting projects, exemplifying that technology can be fun. CoderDojo has a simple motto: "Above all: be cool!".
Practical Information
Participation is welcomed for ages between 7 and 18. Parents are encouraged to return 15 minutes before the Dojo ends to join in the showcase moment.
Participants must provide a laptop. Coaches will ensure all necessary software is installed, or inform participants in advance if specific requirements are necessary. If a laptop is unavailable, participants should notify CoderDojo, who will try to provide a portable computer.
Registration & Cancellation
The registration form mainly collects personal information about the participant. In some instances, additional information regarding the parent/guardian may be requested, which will be explicitly stated. All participants are asked to provide an email address and phone number for the parent or guardian during registration. CoderDojo will contact the parents or guardians directly when needed.
It is appreciated when participants keep their registration details up to date, and if unable to attend, it's easy to cancel the registration. Instructions will be provided for this process. For any difficulties, participants can always reach out for assistance.
Paths
There are various paths participants can take. For those with no prior experience, starting with Scratch is highly recommended.
