On December 13, 2024, music enthusiasts will gather at iKi Singapore for the final installment of TRANCE4M International, headlined by the esteemed John Askew in an Open-to-Close Journey.
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO JOHN ASKew:
John Askew emerged as a notable tech-trance artist following the release of his debut single “Vellum” in 2001. Initially starting his music journey in rock bands, he transitioned to electronic music after experiencing the rave scene in Cornwall in 1993. By 1994, he made his entrance into the club world at a famous Acid House venue in London and quickly became the resident DJ for the “Code Red” sound system, amassing a dedicated underground following. His unique style combines melodic German trance with energetic percussive beats.
Throughout his prolific career spanning over thirty years, John has gained recognition as a passionate producer and performer, distinguished for his dynamic sets and as one of the rare DJs to create an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. He has collaborated with leading labels including Armada and Future Sound Of Egypt and has an extensive discography of hits and remixes.
In 2000, Askew toured extensively with prominent DJs such as Carl Cox and Timo Maas. He captivated vast audiences during a New Year's Eve performance at the Ministry of Sound, establishing a two-year residency renowned for high-energy closing sets in the main room.
In 2021, he celebrated the release of his 13th mix compilation, "Dusk Till Dawn," claiming the top spot on the Beatport main album chart for five consecutive weeks, surpassing other genres in popularity.
As the founder of the VII label, which showcases a variety of innovative trance artists, John has played a crucial role in the underground electronic music scene. His influence is marked by his review of quality music and a commitment to showcasing emerging talent.
John Askew continues to mesmerize dance floors worldwide, having performed at renowned clubs like Cream and prestigious festivals such as A State of Trance and Creamfields. His DJ sets are an emotional journey, reflecting a deep understanding of music that stems from many years of songwriting and collaboration.
Recently, he released his eagerly anticipated studio album "A Room Full of Pros and Cons," featuring diverse tracks alongside upcoming artists like Lyonheart and Shelby Merry, further showcasing his dedication to evolving the electronic music landscape.
